Somewhat inexplicably, I am able to mess things up without even realizing that I’m doing it.

This is a character flaw that I keep trying to do something about.

But, I still don’t see it coming sometimes even though I should. Like I made a mistake with the HVAC recently. Yet, I thought I was doing the right thing. Shows what I know. It’s been just a few years since my wife and I replaced our heating and cooling equipment. When I called in to the HVAC company to schedule the first HVAC maintenance, they offered me an HVAC service plan. I sort of declined just out of habit. This is sort of what I do as I feel as though I get bombarded by these offers all of the time. I told the HVAC thank you but no thank you and that I would schedule the air conditioner tune-ups and the heating maintenance. This is a prime example of me messing up and not even realizing it. Fast forward a few years and I am not being consistent with scheduling the HVAC maintenance. In my head, I sort of think that since the HVAC equipment is relatively new, it doesn’t really need all that attention. I could not have been more wrong. The fact is that all heating and cooling equipment needs semi annual HVAC maintenance. And I found this out the hard way. After I missed yet another heating maintenance appointment, the gas furnace went out one night. And of course it was a cold night so I had to opt for the emergency service. Worse yet, it was a small part that would have been detected and swapped out during normal heating maintenance.
