Last Thursday, I got into an accident on the freeway.

I was lost in thought and I didn’t realize that the truck in front of me applied their brakes.

I was thinking about my ex girlfriend. We broke up the day before that and I was still angry and frustrated with the situation. I wasn’t watching traffic when the driver braked. I tried to swerve left and right, but I still slammed into the back of the truck. the truck and I pulled over to the side of the freeway so we could exchange information. I didn’t realize that the truck was a commercial vehicle until I saw the driver get out of the vehicle. The guy was wearing a uniform shirt and pants. As he got closer to my car, I could see that she worked for an HVAC repair company. The guy looked angry and I tried to apologize as soon as he came near. The guy was yelling about being late for an HVAC repair. I didn’t think there was a lot of damage to the work truck and my car, so I offered to exchange information instead of calling the police. The driver of the HVAC repair truck said it was policy to contact the police whenever the company vehicle is involved in an accident. Lucky for both of us, there was a police cruiser only one mile away. The police took our information and both of us drove away from the scene about 30 minutes later. I’m sure my insurance company is going to raise my rates after this accident. It’s the third one this year.
