They got a surprise for sure
People who spend a lot of time outdoors are constantly at increased risk for a bite from ants, bees, flies, and other insects.
My family and I usually go camping frequently. All of us usually take a tent and sleep in our sleeping bags. All of us do our best to roast marshmallows and hot dogs over the fire and both of us care about snacks such as s’mores at night. All of us all love to go fishing and both of us have canoes and kayaks for every single person in the family. All of us spend all day outside, however even the adolescents love to go off with friends and hangout on the water all day. All of us usually wear an insect repellent to keep us safe from being bitten by the bugs, and sometimes both of us still get stung by a wasp or a nasty hornet. Last year, both of us made the choice to go camping by the marsh area. The flood of mosquitos and the biting flies were bad and both of us were getting stung even with our heavy duty insect repellant. Things got even worse when another group of campers were rapidly swarmed by a nest of wasps. It happened in the middle of the night when everyone already was asleep. My family and I were alarmed after many people ended up with many stings covering our bodies. The next day, a crew of exterminators were in the woods spraying an intensive pesticide. The exterminator crew was there all day to eradicate the swarm of wasps and hornet nests. I don’t think both of us will ever return to that location again. There definitely are plenty of other locations that don’t have the same concerns.
