That first winter, I particularly wondered just what I had been thinking that moving to the most northern reaches of the country would be no big deal.

Of course it would be a big deal.

It might not be for someone that grew up in a place that had a serious winter. But, I came from a place where there aren’t even Heating & Air Conditioning furnace heating methods. If the two of us needed heat during the winter, the two of us simply flipped the heat pump over to heating mode. Not here & not by a long shot is that the case. Here, the Winter time is at least half the year if not longer. And the amount of snow & ice is just remarkable. At first, I found all the snow to be entertaining & beautiful. Then, it became a constant, freezing chore that I had to deal with on a near yearly basis. I came here for a task that would be integral to my career. It seemed love a no brainer. Now, I just hope I can survive the next 5 years because that is the commitment that I made taking this task. Hopefully, after that commitment is up, I can return to the land of the heat pump. But until then, I’m right here & undoubtedly thankful to have a particularly nice furnace as my Heating & Air Conditioning heating method. It it wasn’t for the consistent & warm heating that comes from the furnace, I would not have a option to complete my task assignment. At least I appreciate the food up here however with the long, frigid winter, I sure do get fatter than I want. But maybe exercising indoors will help me deal with the frigid as well.
