Think long term value when considering HVAC maintenance

Our home is right smack in the middle of an area that demands reliable, efficient and powerful HVAC.

If you don’t have that sort of HVAC then you are risking some real discomfort.

The summer hits hard in this area with a combination of heat and humidity that require an answer. My parents somehow made it through these summers with out modern HVAC when they were children. They grew up in a home that had an evaporative cooler which cools the air a bit but is in no way anything like a heat pump. The use of fans was an essential component to having a swamp cooler. For my family, we are lucky enough to have a HVAC which not only cools the air but is reducing the humidity level in our home while doing so. Balancing the humidity level with the HVAC helps maintain an environment where mold growth is mitigated. However, I still like t try and save some money on the HVAC. I have even considered not paying for HVAC maintenance any longer. We normally have the HVAC tech come out to inspect and service the HVAC equipment in the spring and again in the fall. Doing this allows the HVAC tech to get the HVAC primed for the big cooling effort in the summer. And then, he can check and service once that effort is complete in the late fall. It’s an important to take care of the HVAC as it is elemental to our life and comfort. So, I have always resisted the urge to save money by foregoing it.
