Hard working out in the southern heat
Hard working out in the southern heat
I recently moved down south and I didn’t believe everyone when they complained about the heat.
- I stupidly thought I could handle the heat without any AC.
I moved down in the winter which felt like a northern summer to me. I did not use any AC and was able to exercise outside every single day. I could go for runs, stretch and do weightlifting with no problem. Now summer is approaching. I have noticed a drastic change in the weather. It is no longer pleasantly warm. It is excruciating heat and humidity. I run my house AC all day long. I tried working out in my carport like normal, at my usual time. The humidity makes it really difficult to get motivated. My hour work out turned into an hour of stretching and laying on the mat sweating. I now have three options when it comes to working out during a southern summer. Option one is that I get up butt early and beat the heavy heat. I need to begin working out around 8 AM and it is slightly tolerable. Option two is I am confined inside my house with the AC running. I don’t have the space but I do have cooling. Option three is I take a core progression fitness class at the gym near me. It is a short ten minute drive and the class is an hour. It is a great fitness class run by a personal trainer. I pay as I go. If I am being good, that is the option I pick. If I am motivated I get up early. If I am a lazy turd, I work out indoors.
