Why Your Air Purifier Needs a UV Light
Why Your Air Purifier Needs a UV Light
When I told the neighbor, she said she didn’t want to scare me, but without the UV light there was no guarantee I was eliminating any harmful bacteria and viruses in our home.
I was happy when I heard our local heating and cooling contractor was selling air purifiers for 50% off. I snatched four of them for our home to afford us enjoyable air quality and I wouldn’t have to worry about bacteria and germs. Not until a little later when I was telling some friends did I learn that my purchase wasn’t so great. I was bragging about their efficiency and how excellent our air quality was when a neighbor asked if they were UV media air cleaners. I had to guess and then an hour later I checked the box. Evidently, these were not UV media air cleaners. When I told the neighbor, she said she didn’t want to scare me, but without the UV light there was no guarantee I was eliminating any harmful bacteria and viruses in our home. I was outraged because that was the whole point of any media air cleaner. I learned the hard way you really do get what you pay for, and these were not the high quality media air cleaners I had thought. Don’t misunderstand, the air quality was great, but I realized that if I want to be safer in our home, I’d need to invest in media air cleaners with the UV light. I’d even consider a powerful UV whole-home air purifier.
