Researched mini split system for mom… got one myself
You have to be careful when you’re shopping for other people, because it’s very easy to wind up shopping for yourself.
I’m sure we’ve all had this experience around the holiday season when major retailers are having blowout holiday deals… and something just looks too good to pass up for the price.
Suddenly, you filled an entire online cart with presents for yourself, and you forgot to purchase anything for your family. It can be hard to keep your focus and your wallet intact. Recently, this happened to me again when I was just trying to help my mom with her indoor air quality. My mom has a small horse farm and it has an adorable little barn on the property. For a few years she’s been talking about installing some kind of air quality control machine in the barn so that she’s more comfortable when she’s mucking stalls, the horses are warmer in the winter, and her barn cats have respite from the uneven hot and cold temperatures outside. Unfortunately, she has been deterred from purchasing any HVAC device because of the assumed expense. She didn’t want to install a central heating and cooling system, but it also was unsafe to utilize space heaters in such a flammable environment. Eventually, I got sick of hearing her complain about the miserable conditions in her barn. I started researching stand-alone heating and cooling devices, and quickly found mini-split ductless heating and cooling systems. After reading about how easy they are to install and how inexpensive they are to operate, I was convinced. Heating and cooling in one simple device that you can actually afford to buy and operate? Yes please. I bought one for my mom, but I bought two more for myself.
