My Friend Was Right and I was Wrong
One of the hardest things about trying to keep a friendship alive is dealing with things that you don’t really see eye to eye upon.
My friend was telling myself and others a little while ago that I should make an effort to change our air filters more often.
I questioned him asking him what he was talking about because they were 3 weeks air filters. He said that because I have a couple of pets, their hair would entirely clog up our HVAC plan sooner than the air filter package said to replace it. I figured that since my pets are short haired & they don’t shed all that much hair, I was fine with changing the air filters every 90 days. He disagreed & said it didn’t matter, all that pet dander was going to clog the ductwork if I didn’t replace the air filters more often. I thought it was something an occasional ductwork cleaning could take care of, although I disagreed with having to change the air filters too many times. The two of us had a bit of a falling out over this ridiculous air filter argument. Well, the last time I had an HVAC worker come out as part of the HVAC service contract, he really told myself and others that our air filter was too dirty & the lack of proper air flow was causing air pressure complications in our HVAC system. I was a bit annoyed because it had only been a couple of months since I changed the air filter. He said it would legitimately be amerter to change the air filters every 2 months even though they are 90 day air filters, because I have cats… I couldn’t believe the HVAC professional recommended the same thing my friend recommended, although he must assume what he is talking about. I ended up saying I was sorry to our friend & bought us a 12-pack of beer to enjoy.
