My sister and I have lived together ever since our parents passed and left us the house.

Last year, my sister and I were told that our air conditioning unit was on its last leg and it wouldn’t make it through another summer.

Since then, every day we use the AC unit, we wait for it to quit working. I knew that it was an old AC unit, but I couldn’t figure out why we should just throw it away when it was still working. I hated that people felt they should get rid of something just because it was old. A couple of nights ago, my sister and I were home for the night. I went to bed early and it was only ten minutes later that she was knocking on my door. She told me she thought our air conditioning was having some health problems. Her being a nurse meant that she was always putting the AC problem into health terms. She said it seemed to be coughing worse than normal and we needed to call the HVAC company. I didn’t hear any noise, but I did notice it was much warmer than normal. I checked the air vents and when I didn’t feel any cool air, I knew she was right about the health of the AC unit. I called the HvAC company but they couldn’t do anything for the AC unit. They reminded they thought we should purchase a new AC unit earlier this summer. I guess we were lucky to be able to get through the worst part of the summer before it finally broke. .
