What happens when your hot water heater breaks?

Most people just go out and buy a new hot water heater when their old hot water heater breaks.

I don’t have the luxury of just buying a new one.

Our hot water heater is part of our heating system. We have a boiler system for our heating. The boiler works by heating water in a large holding tank and the hot water is sent through pipes that disperse the heat of the water into the air. The same water tank sends hot water to the water taps for hot water in the sinks and in the bathroom. When we weren’t getting hot water into the taps, we knew we had a problem. We couldn’t find any leaks, and our only other thought was that it was the boiler itself that was causing problems. I was worried that we could actually need a new boiler heater and I could see the worry on my husband’s face. We had to call the local HvAC company and ask them to come out and look at the boiler. The HVAC tech who arrived asked us how old the boiler was. We thought it was about forty years old, but we couldn’t honestly say. In the opinion of the HVAC technician, we would be better off if we would just purchase a boiler or alternative heating system. My husband and I had been discussing purchasing a new boiler. We decided to go ahead and talk to them about a new heating system. I already know that my husband wants to get another boiler for our heating, but I’m hoping to be able to talk him into radiant heating for our bathroom.
