Two months ago we had our furnace service done. The young HVAC tech who came to the house wasn’t familiar to us and I asked him what happened to the other HVAC tech who had been coming to our house for the last twenty years. He said he was retiring and planning on moving. I was pleased with the young man who did our servicing, but I was worried. Chaney, the other HvAC tech was the one who had installed our furnace and the only one who had ever done any work on it. I didn’t know if anyone else was going to be able to work on the furnace the way Chaney did. The young man seemed to be smart enough, but he didn’t look old enough to know his way around a furnace. Last week we had a problem with our furnace and the young man couldn’t find the plate that gave the model and serial number of the furnace. I looked at my husband and I told him that Chaney would be able to find the plate. My husband said that Chaney wouldn’t even need the plate. He would already know everything about the furnace. I spent the next two hours looking through all of my junk drawers, trying to find the information on our furnace. I no sooner found the paperwork than I got a call from the HVAC company. They said they had the paperwork and their HVAC tech would be right out with the part we needed for our furnace. Maybe the young man isn’t going to be as bad as we are anticipating.
