Pilot won’t stay lit

Pilot won’t stay lit

Sometimes I wonder about modern appliances. Are they really that much better than they used to be? Even with all of our advanced technology, years of engineering evolutions, and general progression in the efficient way that we do things, I doubt that we have made massive improvements to your general home appliances. Is a microwave really all that superior because it’s capable of automatically defrosting things? Does your freezer actually need to give you updates on the status of making new ice? Does it seem necessary that your amazon account is linked to a purchase button on your washer and dryer? I don’t think so. I also don’t see the point of expensive and intricate smart thermostat devices when your basic old forced air furnace can’t maintain a lit pilot light. That’s what I’m struggling with right now. For the past two weeks, our central heating system has been almost entirely useless. From the moment we powered it on for the season, the forced air furnace has been letting us down by sending ice cold air shooting through our extensive air ducts and into our frigid indoor spaces. Apparently, the pilot light keeps going out, and we can’t seem to make it a permanent fixture so that the heating system actually does it’s job. Every day or two, the pilot is out and cold air is flowing through the air vents again. I’ve been crawling under the house and relighting the pilot almost every day. I’m glad we invested in a smart thermostat last year, but what’s the point, if your furnace is doomed from the start?
