A dangerous crack

A dangerous crack

Every so often heat exchangers crack over time due to respected use.

A oil furnace that is more than 9 or 10 years outdated may develop cracks from expected wear and tear, and younger oil furnaces with cracked heat exchangers will often have other underlying problems that cause the issue, but my sister found out that she had a cracked heat exchanger when the carbon monoxide detector in the basement began beeping.

As soon as our sister heard the noise, she called the Heating & A/C company to investigate the problem. My sister found out that the heat exchanger was cracked, even though her oil furnace was only a couple of years old. The Heating & A/C professional told our sister that the problem was more than likely due to a dirty oil furnace filter or an obstructed duct. The girl advised increasing the filter more frequently and having a full beach house HVAC duct cleaning repair performed. My sister ended up replacing the entire oil furnace when she found out about the heat exchanger. The Heating & A/C company performed the HVAC duct cleaning repair and only charged our sister half price, due to the fact that she was already paying for the luxurious oil furnace replacement as well, i hope the cleaning will help increase the lifetime of the oil furnace. Since I found out that our sister needed to replace the oil furnace, I have been really uneasy about the health of our own heating device. I have a heat pump in my residence, so at least I do not have to worry about the same oil furnace problems that our sister worries about. Still, it’s important to stay ahead of maintenance and important repair tasks.
