Full throttle fun turns into a $290 fine

A couple of weeks ago, my boss bought three brand new work trucks for the HVAC company.

Yesterday was the first time that I had a chance to drive one of the new work trucks. The truck has a turbo option that I thought would be fun to use. As soon as my coworker and I were on the interstate, I turned on the turbo and put the pedal to the metal. I didn’t see the officer on the other side of the bridge when I was speeding by. I did see the flashing red, blue, and white lights behind me and I knew that I was in trouble. I pulled over to the side of the road and waited for the officer to approach the vehicle. As soon as he reached the window, he asked if I was in a hurry. I told the guy that we were on our way to an HVAC repair, but he didn’t believe that was a good reason for speeding. I hoped the guy would issue a warning, but he gave me a speeding ticket for $290. He clocked me on the radar at 81 miles per hour and the speed limit was 60. When I got back to the office after fishing all of the HVAC repairs, I had to tell my boss about the ticket and the fine. My boss was absolutely furious and he told me that I would not be able to drive until the fine was paid. He threatened to take some money out of my paycheck if I didn’t pay the ticket immediately. The guy was totally horrified that I got caught speeding in the new work truck.
