When I was a kid, I remember my grandpa hiding all kinds of things in the air ducts in his house.

He was one of those guys who grew up during the Great Depression, and he did not trust banks at all. He flat out refused to put any of his money in the bank, and I will never forget following my grandpa around the house while he unscrewed the air vent covers and reached into the air ducts to get stacks of cash whenever we were going shopping in town or something like that. My grandpa would also get stacks of hundred dollar bills out of his ventilation ducts during the holidays because he always gave his grandkids money as their Christmas gifts. I always loved getting my money from my grandpa for Christmas. It was so exciting to get a brand new one hundred dollar bill, straight out of Grandpa’s heating and cooling ventilation ducts! I know that this sounds weird, but I know that I will never forget that sort of thing no matter how old I get. It’s funny, but now that I’m an adult, I find myself behaving more and more like my grandpa when it comes to my heating and cooling system. I’ve been keeping the furnace settings at really high temperatures lately, just like he used to. Not only that, but I’ve started to distrust the banks around here too! The other day, I started to think about putting my cashed paycheck into the heating vent in my bedroom instead of leaving it in my checking account.
