Just get them washed every now and then

At one time, I used to have the rugs in my office building professionally shampooed a few times per year.

It was the only way to make sure they were clean.

Although the process has evolved a bit over time, it still involves a foaming substance put on & worked into the carpet with a machine. The component features a brush that helps to clean up the rugs and remove contaminants from the carpet fibers. The carpet is then vacuumed to remove the shampoo, debris & any excess wetness. The carpet requires quite a bit of time to dry & needs to be dry vacuumed to scrub up any remaining film. The process had to be done for after the close of official company hours, allowing the carpet to dry 24 hours. Over the last couple of years, the professional cleaning business has switched from carpet shampooing to encapsulation. This type of cleaning device uses synthetic foam detergents. The detergents are worked into the fibers through a component with a brush. As the foam crystallizes into a powder, it handles the dirt in the carpet. The powder & contaminants are then vacuumed up. There are good points of encapsulation over shampooing. It uses less water & takes less time to sit out and dry. It also leaves no layer of film. However, it’s not as efficient on heavily soiled carpets, every now & then, I still insist that the cleaning business shampoo the carpets of our building. I want to be sure that there aren’t germs, grime or other allergens trapped in the fibers. I know that thoroughly washed carpets are important to the health, appearance & value of the job area.
