A full time HVAC guy for the warehouse

If you can’t breathe, you can’t work.

  • I know it sounds dumb, buit it’s one of the little sayings my dad used to use that stuck with me.

Of course he used it about everything — if you can’t eat you can’t work, if you can’t have water you can’t work, etc etc. To him working was what a man was supposed to do, so getting good sleep, staying healthy, all that stuff was all just to make sure you could keep working. Now, my father and I have very different work ethics, mind you, but I still learned a lot from him. Poor air quality leads to poor breathing, which leads to poor health, which leads to a lot of potentially bad things happening. I run a warehouse with a crew of 120 employees in shifts, and with so much dust and detritus in the air maintaining a safe air quality is something very important to me. First of all it’s about the workers ,because with poor air quality it can really impact their health. Secondly, and this may sound a little cold blooded, but workers with poor health don’t work as hard, or as well, so good air quality also benefits productivity. Since better productivity means better work and higher profits, the bosses agree with me that having a full time ventilation and HVAC tech on staff was a smart investment. The place is so big, and although the HVAC equipment is pretty new there is a network of antiquated air ductwork that needs constant, intense and loving attention.
