Getting AC for the garage cats

A few months ago we decided to go out and adopt some feral cats to help keep the mice under control around our house.

  • We live on a small farm and there is some grain stored in the garage which the little critters love to eat.

As such, we need some kind of pest control to keep the rodents in order. Unfortunately, traditional mouse traps don’t work very well with these sneaky little buggers. We decided to go ahead and adopt some natural rodent control in the form of two kittens. The little kitties that we adopted are absolutely adorable and they are quickly coming around to humans. However, they don’t get along so well with the dog, and that’s causing some hot and cold issues. You see, because the kittens need to escape into the garage away from the dog, we’re worried about the air quality control inside of the building. It can be brutally hot and cold in our climate, and it’s not fair that the kittens have to suffer with uneven and unsafe temperatures. In the summer, we’re worried that they’re going to overheat in the sweltering hot garage because it has no windows or vents. I wanted to purchase an AC window unit for them, but there’s nowhere to exhaust the hot air. I started looking into mini ductless cooling systems and that seems to be our best bet for keeping the kittens cool. If I can get a mini split heating and cooling system installed in the garage, I would feel a lot better about our favorite exterminators. I just hope we don’t make it more comfortable for the mice.
