You shouldn’t drink on the job.

My husband likes to come into the house and have a beer, when he is done with his work.

He doesn’t drink much, but it seems to calm his nerves after a long day of work.

He is then ready to face the kids and whatever he has to do at home. I was thinking about his work ethics when I called the HVAC company the other day. We needed to have the servicing done on our air conditioning unit. I was surprised to hear that they were sending an HVAC technician to the house, that same day. It was getting close to 4PM and I was thinking the HVAC tech wouldn’t be making it to the house, when I heard the service van pull into the driveway. I looked outside and realized I had never seen this man before. He seemed to be taking his time getting out of the HVAC van. As he wobbled along the pathway, I was beginning to get concerned. The man appeared to be a bit tipsy. I didn’t want to make any judgment calls before seeing him face to face. I worried that if he had been drinking; was he going to be belligerent? I saw him turn around because he had forgotten to get his tools from the van. When he knocked on the door, I cautiously opened the door. I could immediately detect the odor of alcohol. After showing him where the air conditioner was, I called the HVAC company. They asked if I could keep him occupied before they were able to get there. I didn’t have to keep the HVAC tech occupied. He spied my hammock where he had taken up residence and quietly fallen to sleep.
